Yesterday, The Moon and Two Stars turned 8.
But I didn't feel like celebrating.
It's so hard not to feel like I'm letting my clients down...this postal strike is occurring at the biggest shopping season of the year for small businesses, and it's impacting you, the clients, just as hard.
This means packages aren't moving at all.
The inclusions you sent me are stuck somewhere.
Your custom, made-to-order jewelry bases are stuck somewhere.
And I am stuck somewhere between the overwhelming guilt of letting my clients down, and trying to accept that this isn't my fault.
I spent a long time reflecting today - looking at my galaxy of your stars, rereading all of your notes that I keep in a scrapbook, and thinking about all the beautiful souls I've had the opportunity to connect with over the last 8 years.
The good will always outweigh the bad...but the bad can just be so heavy to carry all the time. I am at a point where I fully understand why small business owners give up and shut their doors.
I know there is a lesson in this. I've already come up with plans to alter how I will run my business in the future. And as long as you, my clients, can continue to be understanding and patient with this temporary situation, I'm going to wipe away these tears, pour myself my 3rd coffee of the day, and confidently tell you that I am not going to go anywhere.
Please continue to shop local and small businesses. We literally do dances and sometimes even cry happy tears when you buy from us. I know the pure excitement I feel whenever I get a sales notification never wears off.
